UPDATED FRIDAY (MAY 6, 2022 - 7AM)
Here is the latest on today's severe weather threat from US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama:
The National Weather Service in Huntsville is forecasting severe weather in the Huntsville Utilities service area for this afternoon through tomorrow morning. The primary risks with this storm system are damaging winds and large hail, though tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
For the Huntsville Utilities service area, the greater threat is for Friday morning (8am to 11am).
This system brings an increased chance of limbs, trees, and debris being blown into (and bringing down) power lines. If you spot a downed power line, do not approach, or attempt to drive over it. Stay far away and call us immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448). This is also the number to call to report a power outage.
Huntsville Utilities is closely monitoring the weather situation and has crews standing by to respond to any service issues.
Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (www.weather.gov/hun) for the latest weather information.
