Huntsville Utilities (HU) is located in Huntsville, Alabama and is owned by the City of Huntsville. As a Public Utility, we answer only to the people we serve. Decisions are based on what is best for our customers. We do not pay dividends to stockholders. Instead we provide lower prices to our customers.

HU President & CEO

Wes Kelley is the President and CEO of Huntsville Utilities, which provides service to over 200,000 electric, 100,000 water, and 56,000 natural gas customers in Huntsville and Madison County, Alabama. Huntsville Utilities is the 17th largest publicly-owned utility service in the nation.

In addition to electricity, natural gas, and water, Huntsville Utilities operates a citywide fiberoptic infrastructure to provide high-speed telecommunication services in the community. This network is used by Google Fiber, to provide its high-speed internet service to the residential and business community. 

Mr. Kelley is chairman of the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association’s Board of Directors. He previously chaired the Regulatory/Contract Compliance Advisory Group and served on the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Regional Energy Resource Council, Customer Planning Council, and Integrated Resource Plan Working Group. 

In his community, Mr. Kelley is a graduate of Huntsville Leadership Flagship class 34, serves on the board of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber, the Huntsville Botanical Gardens, and is the Vice Chair of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center (the home of Space Camp). 

Before coming to Huntsville Utilities in 2017, Mr. Kelley led Columbia Power & Water Systems and Pulaski Electric System, both in middle Tennessee
