Weather Alert for Wednesday, March 30, 2022

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has placed the entire Huntsville Utilities service area under an enhanced risk of severe storms for Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

"Enhanced" is level three out of the NWS five level system (five being the highest risk).  This level means numerous severe storms are possible.

The expected impacts of this weather system are wind gusts of around 70mph.  Tornadoes are also possible.

The system is expected in the Huntsville Utilities service area between 7pm and 11pm Wednesday evening.

With this type of weather system, there is an enhanced risk of limbs, trees, and other debris blowing into and bringing down power lines.  If you see a downed power line, do not approach it or attempt to drive over it.  Contact Huntsville Utilities immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448).  This is also the number to call to report a power outage.

Huntsville Utilities is closely monitoring the weather situation and has crews standing by to respond to any weather-related service issues.

Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (www.weather.gov/hun) for the latest on this developing weather situation.
