Weather Alert for Friday (March 18, 2022)

The National Weather Service in Huntsville is forecasting a threat of strong to severe storms for our area on Friday.

A line of strong thunderstorms will move through the area early to mid Friday morning. An additional threat for strong to severe storms exists Friday afternoon and evening ahead of a cold front.

The primary threats for this weather system are gusty/damaging winds, small hail, and heavy rainfall, though tornadoes cannot be ruled out (especially in the afternoon/evening).

This means an increased risk of limbs, trees, and other debris being blown into and bringing down power lines.  If you see a downed line, do not approach it or attempt to drive over it.  Call Huntsville Utilities immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448).  This is also the number to call to report a power outage.

Huntsville Utilities is closely monitoring the weather situation and has crews standing by to respond to any weather-related service issues.  Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (www.weather.gov/hun) for updates on this developing situation.
