Here is the latest from US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama regarding today's severe weather threat:

A line of showers and thunderstorms, a few of which could produce damaging wind gusts, is expected in the area. For the Huntsville Utilities service area, the timing is 11am to 2pm.

While damaging winds are the primary threat, a tornado cannot be ruled out.

This means an increased risk of limbs, trees, and debris falling into or taking down power lines. If you see a downed line, do not approach it or attempt to drive over it. Contact Huntsville Utilities immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448). This is also the number to call to report a power outage.

Huntsville Utilities is closely monitoring the weather situation and has crews standing by to respond to any weather-related service issues.

Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (www.weather.gov/hun) for updates throughout the day.
