Here is the latest from US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama regarding the severe weather threat for today.

Francine has weakened to a Tropical Storm and is moving northward. For today and Friday, we can expect gusty winds and heavy rainfall. While the tornado threat is low, it cannot be ruled out. There is also a risk for flash flooding.

The strong wind threat will last until 7am Friday. Wind gusts could reach 35-40mph, with sustained winds of 20-25mph. The window for possible tornadoes is from 6pm this evening to 9am Friday.

Remember: if you see a downed power line, do not approach it or drive over it. If you see a limb, tree, or other debris on a power line, do not attempt to remove it. Report either of these situations, as well as any power outages, to 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448).

Huntsville Utilities is closely monitoring the weather situation and has crews ready to respond to any weather-related service issues.
