Weather Alert for Sunday-Monday (May 26-27, 2024)
Here is the latest from US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama regarding the severe weather threat for Sunday night into Monday morning:
Almost all of the Huntsville Utilities service area is under an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe weather tonight. There is a medium to high chance of showers/storms, with a medium chance that those storms will become severe.
Threats include:
Damaging winds
Heavy rain
Large hail
Tornadoes (low confidence, but cannot be ruled out)
The timing window for Madison County is 2am - 6am Monday.
If you see a downed power line, do not approach it or attempt to drive over it. If you see a power line obstructed by trees, limbs, or debris, do not attempt to move the obstruction. Report either of these conditions to 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448). This is also the number for reporting power outages.
Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (weather.gov) for updates.
