Weather Alert for Friday (May 24, 2024)

BE WEATHER AWARE!

Here is the latest from US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama regarding the potential for severe weather today:

The chances for severe weather in north Alabama ranges from low to medium. The risk is lower for the Huntsville Utilities service area.

Any severe storms that occur will potentially contain damaging winds, and large hail, with a secondary threat of locally heavy rainfall/flooding. The risk for tornadoes is very low, but cannot be ruled out.

For Madison County, the timing window is 11am to 7pm, but confidence in the timing is low.

Please remember:
If you see a downed power line, do not approach it or attempt to drive over it.
If you see limbs, trees, or other debris across power lines, do not attempt to remove it.
Report either of these conditions, as well as power outages, to 256-54-LIGHT (256-535-4448).

The NWS is forecasting multiple rounds of storms throughout Memorial Day Weekend. Customers are advised to monitor local media and the NWS website (weather.gov/hun) throughout the weekend for updates on this developing situation.
