Weather Alert for Tuesday (May 7, 2024)

The National Weather Service in Huntsville is forecasting two rounds of potentially severe weather for our area, with the first expected in Madison County between 4pm and 7pm this afternoon.

As you can see from the graphic below, the entire area is under a Level 1 (of 5) threat for severe weather today. Strong to severe storms are expected to develop and move west to east. The primary threats are hail and damaging winds.

This type of system brings an increased risk of limbs, trees, and debris being blown into and bringing down power lines. If you discover a downed power line, do not approach it or attempt to drive over it. Contact us immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448). This is also the number to report a power outage.

The second round of severe weather is currently expected between 2am and 6am Thursday morning.

We are closely monitoring the situation and have crews ready to respond to any service issues. Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (weather.gov/hun) for updates.
