Weather Alert for Wednesday (April 17, 2024)

Here is the latest from the National Weather Service in Huntsville regarding the severe weather threat for today:

The entire Huntsville Utilities service area is under a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather today. 

There is no specific time window listed for Huntsville/Madison County, but the system is expected to move into the northwest portion of the state at sunrise and move across until it exits to the southeast in the late afternoon.

It should be noted that the NWS currently has low confidence that these storms could turn severe, however, customers are advised to be prepared in case they do.

Remember:
--if you see a downed power line, do not approach it or drive over it
--do not attempt to clear trees, limbs, or other debris from power lines
--report downed/obstructed lines and power outages to 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448)

Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (weather.gov/hun) for updates throughout the day.
