Severe Weather Threat for Tuesday - April 2, 2024

WEATHER ALERT!

Here is the latest from the US National Weather Service in Huntsville regarding the severe weather threat for this afternoon/evening:

The entire Huntsville Utilities service area is within an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms and within a 10% threat area for strong tornadoes (EF2 or higher).

Hazards include damaging wind gusts of up to 80 mph and large hail.

The timing window for our area is 3pm to 7pm.

We are closely monitoring the weather situation and have crews ready to respond to weather-related service issues.

Please remember:
--If you see a downed power line do not approach it or attempt to drive over it. Stay away and call us immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448).
--Do not attempt to remove limbs, trees, or debris from power lines. Report these situations to the number above.
--This is also the number for reporting a power outage.

Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (weather.gov/hun) for updates throughout the day.
