Mayor Battle Proclaims December 10 "Project Share Sunday"
Since its inception in 1988, Project Share has helped more than 30,000 local families with utility bills and with home energy efficiency upgrades. Over that same period of time, more than $5.5 million in donations and grants have funded the program, and every penny of every dollar donated goes to help a local family in need.
The Salvation Army administers the program on behalf of Huntsville Utilities.

The proclamation reads:
Whereas, Project Share is a partnership between the Salvation Army and Huntsville Utilities that provides funds to qualified applicants on a low or fixed income as specified by the Alabama Department of Economics and Community Affairs; and
Whereas, as in years past, helping those in need continues to be a focus in our community with 30.233 families receiving utility assistance from contributions totaling $5.6 million since 1988; and
Whereas, the program's success is attributed to Huntsville Utilities' continued efforts of networking with multiple agencies and churches through our service area; and
Whereas, Huntsville Utilities has recently enhanced the contribution methods allowing customers to make a donation when paying their bill by logging in to their account at the Huntsville Utilities website (www.hsvutil.org). Residents can make a one-time contribution; a monthly recurring contribution when paying by bank draft; or when paying by mail, drop box or in person, customers can indicate the contribution amount in the Project Share field on the remittance portion of their invoice; and
Whereas, 100% of residents' donations go directly to those in need of assistance.
Now, Therefore, I, Mayor Tommy Battle, Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Alabama, hereby proclaim Sunday, December 10, 2023 to be Project Share Sunday in Huntsville, Alabama.
Dated this seventh day of December 2023.
