First Natural Gas/Water Operations Certification Program Begins At Drake State

Huntsville Utilities and Drake State Community and Technical College officially launched their Natural Gas/Water Operations Certification Program on Monday, November 6.

This innovative, four-week program provides alternative pathways to entering the workforce while enriching the pool of potential candidates for natural gas and water operations careers at Huntsville Utilities and other local employers.

The program is conducted through Drake State at the District 6 Classroom facilities, with additional hands on training at Huntsville Utilities Natural Gas/Water Operations Building on Triana Boulevard.

This first session has four participants, though 8-10 students will be accepted in future sessions.

Pictured below are Dr. Levi Mayer, Assistant Dean of Instruction, who welcomed the students, and Lucreacia W. Points, EEO, DE&I Director at Huntsville Utilities, who gave insight into the creation and purpose of the program.

Another session is scheduled for Spring 2024. Those interested in enrolling should click here for a full course description and application instructions.
