HEAT/STORMS UPDATE FOR JUNE 30, 2023

Here is the latest from The US National Weather Service in Huntsville regarding the heat and storm potential for today:

An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect through 8pm Saturday. Heat indices are expected to reach 115.

There is also low to medium chances of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and hail.

With temperatures this high, energy use will increase. To help control your energy use (and costs) remember to:
Set your thermostat as high as is comfortable (do not risk your health).
Turn off lights and other electronics when you leave a room.
Close curtains and blinds on windows facing the sun.
Use larger appliances like washers, dryers, and dishwashers after the sun goes down.
Use a microwave for cooking instead of an oven.
Use fans to keep air circulating (ceiling fans should spin counter-clockwise).
