Weather Alert For Sunday (June 11, 2023)

The US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama has placed all of the Huntsville Utilities service area under an Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) for severe weather late this afternoon into the evening and again into the overnight hours. Current models show the storm system entering our area around 4:00pm, but that could change.

The main hazards with this storm system are damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flooding.

This means an increased chance of limbs, trees, and other debris blowing into and bringing down power lines.

If you see a downed power line, DO NOT APPROACH IT! Assume it is energized even if it does not appear to be. Stay away and call us immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448). This is also the number to call to report a power outage.

We are closely monitoring the weather situation and have crews standing by. Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (weather.gov/hun) for the latest information.
