Huntsville Utilities Wins Multiple Awards At TVPPA Lineman Rodeo

The Huntsville Utilities Lineman Rodeo Team brought home 10 awards from the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association Lineman Rodeo in Clarksville, Tennessee, over the weekend.

This was the 26^th year for the rodeo, where lineworkers from public power utilities across the Tennessee Valley compete in events based on safety, skill, and knowledge in their field. 

The rodeo includes competitive events for apprentices, journeymen teams of three, individual linemen and senior individual linemen (age 45 and up).

This year’s rodeo saw the largest number of competitors in its history, with more than 250 linemen from 40 utilities across five states.

After two days of events, the Huntsville Utilities team won the following:

Senior Division:
Todd Payne – 3^rd Place in Cutout Change-Out
Todd Payne – 3^rd Place in Hurtman Rescue
Todd Payne – 2^nd Place Overall Senior Lineman

Team Division:
Huntsville Utilities Team 20 – 1^st Place in Mystery Event
Cole Border, Adam Thomas, Colby Lipham

Huntsville Utilities Team 18 – 3^rd Place in Polyinsulator Change Out
Andrew Brown, Matt Hubbard, Ronnie Mullins

Next year’s TVPPA Lineman Rodeo will be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee, June 7-8.
