MARCH IS FROZEN FOOD MONTH!

Your freezer is a major appliance that uses a lot of energy. Here are some easy ways to make it run more efficiently:
1. Make sure it's full. It works better when it's as full as possible. Fill extra spaces with ice or ice packs.
2. If you're freezing leftovers, let them cool before putting them in the freezer. If they're still warm, the freezer has to work more to cool them down.
3. Know what you're going to take out before you open the door. The longer the door is open, the more cold air escapes.
4. Use a thermometer. A freezer that's too cold wastes energy. The recommended setting for most freezers is 0 (Fahrenheit).
5. If the ice buildup on the inside is more than 1cm thick, defrost it.
6. If you're defrosting food from the freezer, move it to the refrigerator first. This helps keep the refrigerator cool while the food defrosts.
7. Make sure there is plenty of ventilation around your freezer.
8. Check the condenser coils for dust. 9. Make sure the door seals are working properly.
