Weather Alert for Wednesday - March 1, 2023

Here is the latest from The National Weather Service in Huntsville regarding tonight's severe weather threat (2:30pm Wednesday):

Multiple rounds of strong to severe storms are possible tonight as a boundary stalls across northern Alabama.
Expect persistent, heavy rainfall for the evening and overnight hours.
There is a medium chance of severe storms embedded in the multiple rounds of storms; not all storms will be strong to severe.
There is increasing confidence in the chances for damaging winds, tornadoes, and hail

The time window for this system to move through the Huntsville Utilities service area is 10pm to 4am.

This type of system brings an increased risk of limbs, trees, and other debris falling into and bringing down power lines.
If you see a downed power line, do not approach it. Stay far away and call us immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448).
This is also the number to call to report a power outage.

Huntsville Utilities is closely monitoring the weather situation and has crews standing by to respond to any service issues.
Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (www.weather.gov/hun) for the latest on this developing weather event.
