Weather Alert for Thursday (Feb 16, 2023) - UPDATED

UPDATED AT 8:30am THURSDAY TO REFLECT THE LATEST FROM NWS HUNTSVILLE
⛈WEATHER UPDATE⛈
Here is the latest from US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama (as of 5:00am) regarding today's threat for severe weather:
A slow moving cold front will bring strong to severe thunderstorms to our area. Because of this, the National Weather Service has place the Huntsville Utilities service area under an Enhanced Risk of severe weather (level 3 of 5).
The primary hazards with this weather system are tornadoes (a strong tornado cannot be ruled out), damaging winds, hail, and flooding.
Since the previous update, the time window for the storms entering the service area has shifted to 4pm - 7pm.
Remember: if you see a downed power line, do not approach it. It can be energized even if it does not appear to be, and the electricity can travel further when the ground is wet. Report it immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448). This is also the number to call to report a power outage.
We are closely monitoring the weather situation and have crews standing by to respond to any service related issues. Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service (weather.gov/hun) for updates.
