Weather Alert for Thursday (January 12, 2023)

⛈WEATHER ALERT!⛈
Here is the latest from US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama regarding today's severe weather threat:
A broken line of strong to severe thunderstorms is moving through our area this morning and into the afternoon.
The primary threats are heavy rain and damaging winds, but tornadoes have not been ruled out.
A wind advisory is in effect until 4pm today.
This type of weather event brings an increased risk of limbs, trees, and debris being blown into or bringing down power lines. If you see a downed line, stay far away and call us immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448). Remember a power line can be energized even if it does not appear to be, and the electricity from a downed line can travel around 35 feet through the ground (farther if the ground is wet).
This is also the number to call to report a power outage.
We are closely monitoring the weather situation and have crews standing by to respond to any service issues.
Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (www.weather.gov/hun) for updates throughout the day.
