Updated Weather Alert for Tuesday (Oct 25, 2022)

Updated as of 7:20am Tuesday (Oct 25, 2022):

Here is the latest from the US National Weather Service in Huntsville regarding today's threat of severe weather:

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected in the Huntsville Utilities service area between 3pm and 5pm this afternoon. The primary hazards are strong to damaging winds, with gusts up to 40mph. A tornado cannot be ruled out.

A wind advisory is also in effect from 9am to 7pm. Loose, outdoor objects should be brought inside or secured. The impact of the wind may be felt before the line of thunderstorms arrive.

This type of weather system brings an increased risk of objects, limbs, and trees being blown into and bringing down power lines. If you see a downed line, do not approach it. Assume it is energized even if it does not appear to be. Call us immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448). This is the same number to call to report a power outage.

We are closely monitoring the weather situation and have crews standing by to respond to any weather-related service issues. Customers are advised to monitor local media and the National Weather Service website (www.weather.gov/hun) throughout the day for updates.
